Rathangan and Cleariestown Local Notes 20/07/2018

Community Lotto
There was no winner of last week’s jackpot of €12,600. The winning numbers were 1, 11, 13 and 22. There were three match three winners who received €70 each. The winners were S&A Mullins,Sarah Kent, Maggie Whitty. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday 24th July and the Jackpot now stands at €12,800

In addition to all the activities going on, on the 5th of August in St. Anne's GAA Club, Rathangan, there is an important Adult Gaelic Football game between Redmoor and Scar to celebrate Gaelic Sunday of 1918, when all Gaelic Games were banned by the British authorities. This game is also BANNED by the authorities but is going ahead in defiance of the ban. The local Gardaí won't be happy. It will be performed in pageant format but a game nonetheless and should be hugely entertaining with possible interference from the authorities also.  Camogie was also banned then, so wait and see if a Camogie game scheduled will suffer the same interference as the football or will it be allowed to start at all?
Come along well dressed for the occasion, in 1918 style, and enjoy the games and be prepared to back up the teams against any interference, if the authorities do try to ban the games again.
